Dundas Square is the name of the area, at the corner of Yonge and Dundas (across the Eaton Centre to be exact). The problem with that area is it was suppose to be a "public" square, anyone can do whatever they want... NOT!!! The area is monitored 24-7 and anyone getting close to the fountains to cool off or stand around for a period of time will be escorted out by the security. So much for the public area. Ryerson students could have had a blast, University of Toronto students, or just look at all the clubs around that area. Everyone needs to cool off somewhere else! Sometimes it sucks to be from Toronto! |

By AnthonyX - anthonyx@jowc.net Thu 07/08/03 13:55:06 GMT I just learned that Toronto has a fountain something along the lines of the Trocadero? in Paris or the Olympic fountains in Atlanta... well... perhaps smaller, but I think you know what I mean.
Anyway... these fountains are part of a public square which was recently completed, however I don't think you're likely strolling through them to cool off (just wish I was wrong). It seems that they have a rather lengthy list of restrictions and regulations regarding use of the square, plus a security presence to enforce them (calling in the cops if necessary). Somehow I think that as soon as anyone comes too close to the water, the rent-a-cops will be there to shoo them away... or call the city cops to arrest them.
