You may actually want to *try* using the Web with a different browser ...
I find it funny that after Cindy complained about IE 7 being broken, someone suggested that she switch off the pop-up blocker, which is funny since not only should that not cause the problems that she described (in theory), but you really do need a pop-up blocker of some kind for the sake of your sanity.
But security is not what IE is especially well-known for (quite the opposite) and I do truly wonder why people insist on using a browser that does have so many insecurities and flaws, as well as living with the guilt that they make the lives of Web developers the world over miserable. OK, the latter point would only be true if people were not all so ignorant of how terrible IE really is, but I would be so glad to see the day when no-one has to try designing pages to work in IE any more (Hint: IE is so horribly badly designed that it's very painful).
The reward for using a much more standards-compliant browser (e.g. Firefox, Opera, Mozilla) is that they're not full of holes and won't give you spyware. Sounds good to me, and thankfully, quite a few others ... |
In reply to Message (25845.1.1.1.1) IE isn't the point dude.
By retardo - Fri 17/11/06 22:16:15 GMT Its just amazing to me that advertizers still use popups. I guess if the point is to completely piss off your customers then yeah go for it! |
In reply to Message (25845.1.1.1) good point, though...
By Andrew - Fri 17/11/06 04:54:24 GMT the Blogspot issue is still interesting. 80% of Blogspot posts are spam, the remaining couple hard-core wetlook. It's a strange place. And the Blogspot flooding is a new thing.

In reply to Message (25845.1) Why do people insist on using IE?
By FountainFrolic - Thu 16/11/06 19:56:05 GMT The question was asked further down, but has not yet been answered. Both wetlook (though usually that with nudity) and spam sites can exploit that browser. And it's usually pop-up and spyware hell, at least for IE users. I can't find a reason why people like that browser. Is it paying them money? If so, then why? Are they nuts ;)? |

By Andrew - Thu 16/11/06 12:47:05 GMT The question was asked further down, but has not yet been answered. Both wetlook (though usually that with nudity) and spam sites tend to use that domain. And it's usually pop-up and spyware hell, at least for IE useres. I can't find a reason why people like that server. Is it paying them money? If so, then why? Are they nuts ;)?
