I'm not an IT expert but I have had a similar problem.
I have found it to be the case that some "self written" CDs will not play on all drives. This tends to be because of "inaccuracies" in the drive they were written on. Of course when you read on the same drive, they will read back. A bit like old cassette machines where you would find that one of your mates machines would record and play back, but the sound was muffled when played on another machine 'cause the heads were out of allignment.
The only way I have found to get over this is to keep trying different machines, till you find a drive that will read the files that have been written.
Sorry, not much help, but if you have friends you trust with your collection, I would hawk the CDs round till you find a drive that works, and then re-copy them.
I wish you the best of luck.

In reply to Message (31705) Corrupted CD's
By soggybottom - Mon 24/09/07 13:23:08 GMT I have 12 CD's of wetlook that I have collected since about 2000. For some reason I cannot access the files. I doubt that they have been corrupted; they have been in storage. I can't open the files with my new desktop or with a 2005 laptop. Both computers are running Windows XP. When I put a CD in the CD/DVD player it shows no files. Can information on an old CD or DVD be retreived? Most of these were copied from my old computer. What started this adventure was a request from someone to find Froggie photos from the past. I may have some locked in one of these discs. Any ideas?
