True...those events you were referring to were Gaustchfest events, not Oktoberfest events, but don't ignore the Oktoberfest events entirely, cos there ARE some Oktoberfest events where they have dunk tanks and they dunk girls in Bavarian style folk dresses (like Dirndl dresses) in the dunk tank too. I have seen pics a few years ago of an Oktoberfest festival where they dunked girls in folk dresses in the dunk tank....and they kept their shoes and white stockings on too. I do not speak German either, so I cannot search in German for those events, but if you know German, you should be able to find some Oktoberfest events where there are dunk tanks too.

BTW...I have a friend who works as a freelance cameraman for German television and he films many of the Gautchfest events for tv stations, and he sent me several of his master tapes, so if you are looking for DVDs of these events, I have some available...see here...

See what happens when you don't speak German? You get into all kinds of trouble. I thought it was attached to the Octoberfest or Beerfest. Who would have thought printers.

Anyway, here's to a never ending supply of new felale printers. Gotta love em!

These dunkings have nothing to do with the beerfest (Oktoberfest). They are called Gautchfeier and they are an old tradition in the printing business. Before an apprentice can call himself (of herself :-) ) a skilled printer he (or she :-) ) have to go through the ritual of a soaking. Normally the victim receives a beer after the soaking which may be the reason you assume it has something to do with the Oktoberfest.

German beerfest dunking?

We often see some spectacular photos of women getting dunked in tanks at, what I beleive is a German beerfest. What is the website that these photos come from? I have a bunch of the photos but can't seem to find a lind to the site.
