It's a Polish site, but when you choose Germany there are many photos of street cars. Phototrans also has a rail section. Never heard any complaints about problems with taking photos in Germany, the only reported problems where from the east (Belarus, Russia etc) but thses have ended also. This sub-page: http://phototrans.eu/autobusy.php?s=02&nr=3 leads to the gallery of German public transportation. Mind you, that most photographers on this site are Polish (though they are also people from most other european countries) so many of them don't even ni German and can't ask for permission, just snap the photos. The biggest problem I had with photographing well, not trams, but buses, was actually in your country - In Norway, in Bergen, but that wasn't due to people but the downpour of rain that was present the whole time I was there ;). So if you tried and had problems you must have just been out of luck that day imho... |

In reply to Message (44189.1.1.1.1.2.2) Actually it IS allowed in Germany!
By Phoenix - Fri 07/05/10 08:38:57 GMT The law is pretty clear. It is not allowed to take detailed photos of just the person, you wouldn't be able to take a portrait or something. Broader views, like a fountain with people in it are allowed. These movies don't have the clarity in showing the people themselves to be illegal under German law. At least that's an opinion of my friend, who is a lawyer in Munich.
BTW: this discussion is purely academic. On most candid wetlook pictures and videos of decent quality you can see that the subjects are actually aware of the camera. If anyone ever tried, they will know that taking half decent pic / vids in public doesn't really allow the photographer to use paparazzi techniques per se, unless he/she has really expensive equipment. The photos are taken generally out in the open. And all around Europe, even in the more conservative parts, like Poland or Portugal people reacting negatively to cameras are few and far between. I take photos for personal use only (but the subjects don't know that) and I've never had someone object, though I have a portable camera only and was seen quite easily. I've made photos in numerous countries, including the UK, Germany, France, the Netherlands, Spain, Poland, Estonia and Bulgaria. |

By Anonymous - Thu 06/05/10 12:47:32 GMT Sorry to spoil your day: But at least in Germany it is NOT allowed to take pictures of peoples without their consent. It is like you have a "copyright" on your appearance.
But nice pictures anyway :) |

By OneAngryDwarf - Wed 05/05/10 23:23:12 GMT Paul, I don't know what the laws are in your country, but in most places there is no law against filming or photographing people if they have no "reasonable expectation of privacy"--this includes ALL public places such as those featured in the videos below.
If you don't like that fact, you're free to not watch the videos. But don't ruin it for the rest of us, OK? |

By Paul - Wed 05/05/10 22:16:18 GMT They make money with candid people... But no money for this people being on flim... People like you and me... THIS IS MY OPINION!!! |
In reply to Message (44189.1.1) So? Dude, YOU have a problem with this,
By Phoenix - Wed 05/05/10 13:09:45 GMT about 99% of the people here and everywhere else don't. So why the hell do you post comments under every candid post? You really think everyone should think like you and will stop at nothing (at least not at spaming and negative comments) to show it. Sad. |
