Different expectations. Any production aimed at mainstream broadcast or theatrical release really ought to be at some standard. I have no interest in most action, thriller, horror movies for similar reasons... most seem to focus their budgets on special effects, stunts, or CGI at the expense of a little thing called scriptwriting. If I'm going to invest my time (and money) in watching a mainstream movie, I expect there to be a story, and I expect it to make sense in whatever universe and timeframe it is set (real or fictional).
When it comes to production wetlook (or porn for that matter), it's all about the "money shot" (definition varies according to the nature of the production), and we know that any story is just pretense to get to the fun bits. If there is an actual story playing out on screen, that's great, but hardly necessary because nobody really expects it.
By what I just said, you could almost call Shark Attack 3 "spectacle porn" where the "money shots" are all "spectacle" scenes of people and things passing through the jaws of the beast (wholly intact and unpunctured, if that clip is any indication). "Spectacle porn" isn't my thing either.

By Mark - Mon 03/12/12 03:53:32 GMT And I suppose you watch wetlook videos for the cinematographic merits of their highly realistic plots? "Bunni has come back from a long night partying, and decides to shower with her clothes and shoes on." Yeah, EVERY woman that I know does THAT! |

By AnthonyX - anthonyx@jowc.net Sun 02/12/12 22:11:43 GMT I'm a sci-fi fan, and as such am prepared to suspend my disbelief when it comes to fanciful future technologies and alien life forms, and I can even overlook the occasional plot hole in story line made plausible with a given amount of suspended disbelief. But there's just too much of a gap to bridge in a movie like this, so I see no point trying. I think the only purpose to the story in a movie like this is to provide some sort of context to the "amazing" visuals: man jumps off boat and into mouth of giant shark; giant shark eats person + sea-doo whole; giant shark eats whole raft of people. Is that more than one shark of different sizes, or are we supposed to overlook errors of scale between the different shots? Affter devouring a raft and its half-dozen occupants, wouldn't the shark (a) have its fill, and (b) have a little trouble with all the indigestibles? Given all this, I wouldn't even attempt to question what the director is thinking when it comes to such details as the womens' shoes.

By Mark - Sun 02/12/12 16:38:08 GMT Website: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3MW1DcKhi3A There's a corny movie called Shark Attack 3 - Megalodon, which has a scene at the end where numerous women jump off a yacht wearing their evening dresses and heels. I've often wondered what happened to their heels after that, and why the directors made the girls keep their shoes on? Any ideas? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3MW1DcKhi3A

By CHEWITS - jednick@hotmail.com Sun 02/12/12 08:41:22 GMT I'd like thoughts regarding shoes and boots please! Do wetlook producers have to take measures to ensure that the model's shoes or boots stay on when swimming, or is it just hoped that they on? Does it often happen that they fall off? Are any particular types of footwear mush more likely to fall off? I'm guessing high heels without straps, and maybe slingbacks. Also, has it ever been known that a model's boots have fallen off when swimming? With the weight of the water in them making them heavy I think it is a possibility.
