Did I hear someone say they want an update from the crazy world of the Desert Hawk? Yeah, it is about time.
I have been to Six Flags Magic Mountain and it's adjacent Hurricane Harbor waterpark several times this year. This year I got to go to the California Extreme classic arcade show in Santa Clara. The Friday before I went to California's Great America, which includes a waterpark. Amusement parks provide lots of wetlook sightings on river rapids and flume rides. I went to Las Vegas back in May and lost $130. I have been doing good during most of my weekly or more often visits to my favorite Indian casino, which gives me $5 free play plus a blackjack $5 match play every time I go. By taking advantage of their promos, and then playing penny slots one line one credit, I have a net WIN of $423 year to date there! Next Sunday I am going on my first ever (since being old enough to gamble) trip to Reno. I will be there until the following Friday. I will play $1 craps and roulette and $2 blackjack at the Western Village. I will go to Wingfield Park and hopefully see some fully clothed women in the Truckee River (and get in the river myself).
All has not been good this year. I have had to spend over $2200 for a root canal and 2 crowns on my teeth. In early May I had to go to the emergency room. I was having shortness of breath and dizziness and thought I was having a heart attack. The enzyme test showed that I definitely did not have a heart attack. Totat out of pocket cost: $424. My dog chewed on a Raid roach bait and had to be rushed to the emergency vet at 3am one night. They were able to give him shots that saved his life (I lost a dog to cancer last year. Search the archives for that story. Losing another dog this year would have been horrible). One of my cars just required $475 worth of repairs. My other car needed new brakes for $350. Altogether I have racked up over $3000 in credit card debt, and the Reno trip will add even more. I was very tempted to abandon my low roller strategy and put a $100 bill in a dollar slot machine and try to hit a jackpot and get out of debt quickly and easily. Fortunately I resisted that temptation.
Well, that's it for now. Hopefully a wild, winning, and wet week awaits in Reno.
