"Myself" has got it right. It was just an advisory. I believe that all people deserve respect.
But I also believe that people are all different. I have noted that there are many women who make videos, Flickr photosets, or whatever, of themselves getting wet (or engaging in much more explicit sexual activities!) and who treat lewd comments in response as a sign of respect. But, as RoscoeBC rightly says, there are also very many women who would consider that insulting, or even threatening. I judged that the poster of this video is one of the latter; I only mentioned Christianity to give a hint of my reasoning. It never even occurred to me that people might treat that as evidence of bias in favour of Christians!
For the record, I was brought up as a West of Scotland Protestant (ie puritan Christian); which meant that as a child I hated Catholics, and Buddhists, and Catholics, and Muslims, and Catholics, and Hindus, and Catholics, and....(oh, and Celtic and Hibs football teams, because their players were Catholics). In my neighbourhood by far the most common graffiti was "FTP". It stands for "F*** the Pope". When I grew up I realised how wrong all that was. I am now an agnostic, going on atheist. What I hate now is religious intolerance. But I still hold that people deserve to have their religious beliefs respected, as long as (but only as long as) they themselves respect the beliefs of other religions.
On one level, I am glad that RoscoeBC and Soak_ed made the point they did, because I agree with it and it is one which needs to be made. But on another level, I find it depressing proof of what I said in post 65281. Whatever you post, somebody will find something negative to say about it, whilst those who like it will stay silent. I actually did this post to see what would happen after the earlier discussions. Oh dear. But thank you, "Myself". Keep it up.

By Myself - Sun 20/09/15 19:54:08 GMT I took his 'advisory' to mean the subject was somewhat strictly religious, and therefore might take serious offense to lewd or profane comments tossed her way. Interesting that some would immediately assume discrimination as far as one religion vs. others. |

By RoscoeBC - Sun 20/09/15 16:33:11 GMT Are you saying it would be acceptable to make lewd comments if she were anything besides Christian? I don't think you meant it that way, but there seems to be an underlying assumption. How about we treat all people with respect around here regardless of their religious beliefs. Why the special treatment for Christians? Are there no good people who are not Christian? It seems this is the kind of separatist thinking that breeds the sectarian violence we are seeing all over the world. It is an inherent danger in organized religion, IMHO. I think John Lennon had it right in "Imagine".

In reply to Message (65293) jeanskirts in the sea
By jollywetfellow - Sun 20/09/15 12:30:08 GMT Two women in jeanskirts play in the waves - there is also a toddler and a man but the video focuses mainly on the women. Note: her other videos show that she is an active Christian, so no lewd comments to her please. |
