... to see myself counted among the "old timers". I suppose that in a way I am now, because...
... I found wetlook (but not knowing it by that or any other name) appealing since childhood, and turned 60 last year ... It was back in 1995 that I discovered I was not unique in my wetlook interests when I first got onto the internet and stumbled upon the alt.sex newsgroups. Back then, the world wide web was in its infancy - the first web browser as we understand it today only appeared in 1996. I think the first wet/messy website I visited was probably messyfun (must have been a WWW pioneer). The first images I collected were posted to newsgroups and required multiple steps to download; many images were split across multiple postings, so a sequence of posts had to be downloaded and the files stitched together and decoded. In those days I had a "as fast as they come" 56k dial-up modem, so a 100k byte image could download in less than a minute (although it often took longer because the connection would frequently fall back to lower speeds).
Times have changes... my current broadband connection offers a modest 80 Mb/sec download (I could get 1 Gb /sec if I wanted to pay for it); as it is, my current connection is only about 1,000 times faster than that old modem. Gone are the days of film photography, printed and scanned for upload.
Despite advances in technology and image quality, a lot of that old wetlook stands the test of time. IMHO because of classic clothing styles and the "look" of the models - things technology and modern fashions simply don't or can't improve.

In reply to Message (77759) To the real oldtimers
By Wetfan (the original) - Sun 14/07/19 20:22:41 GMT Just a quick hello to the real old-timers such as MK, AnthonyX, Graham, NCGreg and others - and to let you all know that I still visit the Forum occasionally. It's really encouraging to see SO MUCH interest in wetlook - but also how interests have changed from back in the late 50's when I first discovered wetlook via Night & Day magazine. True wetlook back then was a lovely young lady in a pretty pastel dress, regular undies & slip/petticoats, stockings and heels, slowly wading a short ways into a creek, pond or pool, then backing up so one could see the transformation between wet and dry - and continuing the process until she was completely soaked. But then I'm showing my age! Anyhow, greetings to all.
