Whether the content is better today or not is a matter of opinion. Certainly there is no doubt that the video picture quality is vastly superior today, because in the 80's VHS cameras were only capable of shooting video at what is known today as 240p quality. By the 1990's there were better consumer camcorders like Hi-8 that shot video at 360p quality. By the early 2000's we migrated from analog video to digital video standards at the 480p SD quality. In 2007 the first HD cameres cameout that were capable of 720p and 1080p quality. Within the last 5 years video quality has gotten even better with 4K camera quality, and now you have companies like GoPo who are making cheap portable consumer cameras that can shoot to 8K standards. So today with 8K cameras it is possible for an amateur to emulate the quality of a 35mm film camera.

There is no doubt that technology advancements have made huge leaps today.....but the real question is, has the nature of the content and the creativity of producers improved, or has it all become too mundane and too "manufactured" today. Are producers creating "filet mignon" or are they mostly producing jhamburgers like McDonalds......wetlook for the masses.

I can't give an objective opinion on all this, seeing as I am one of the people guilty of producing thousands of hamburgers over the years. I will say this......as a producer there are less than 20 ways of getting wet (methods), and less than 20 different kinds of water locations, and regarding clothing styles there are only 2 main styles (formal and casual) and within that group there are less than 20 differeent fashion styles. This all means than any wetlook producer who shoots more than 100 wetlook videos will eventually find himself repeating the same style again. Many times the repetitive nature of wetlook is deliberate, because that happens to be the personal preference of that producer....which is fine. Many pop stars don't make music to please their fans, they make music to please themselves, Same with all the great painters...i.e.Leonardo da Vinci did not paint a gloomy miserable girl in the Mona Lisa the way he did in order to please the general public.I am sure he would not have changed his painting if somebody said to him "can't you paint a beautiful girl with a smile, instead of painting a plain girl who looks miserable".

Ironically today most Youtube creators are more creative today than most of the Wetlook Producers are....and that is largely forced upon Youtube creators by the advertising sponsors. It is clearly stated in the Google monetization rules that in order for a Youtube creator to monetize their channel, they must meet certain rules imposed by Google's advertising company called Adsense. And one of the top Adsense rules is that you channel must contain unique and creative content, and your content must not be "repetitive".....e.g. they say that if your Youtube channel contains loads of clips where every clip follows the exact same patten...e.g. Girl gets Wet....is a pattern. But that is basically what a fetish video producer does, he always makes the same kinds of videos following the same repetitive pattern..i.e. girl gets wet. Those 3 words encapsulate the entire wetlook genre.,,,but that is a disqualifier per Youtube monetizaion rules. So that is why Youtube creators who make wet scenes are far more creative than non Youtube wetlook producers....because Youtube producers must avoid being repetitive, while Fetish wetlook producers can just make wetlook like a factory assembly line churning out hamburgers.

Wetlook producers today cannot distinguish themselves from the pack when it comes to cameras, methods, wardrobe  and locations....because every producer today has the same access to the same kinds of cameras, methods, wardobe and locations. The only way a producer can be a trailblazer is by having unique models who create their own cult following, using unique props that no other producer uses, and creating very unique scripts and scenarios. An obvious example of a producer who excels in all these aspects is Leon at Mostwam.....but it takes a tremendous amount of effort to produce \that kind of media. Gone are the days when you could simply film a girl taking a bath.....that is passe today and the wetlook fans crave more creativity and not mundane bath scenes.

Back to the original question - has wetlook media gotten better or worse today. I would say that today most of the creativity lies with Youtube creators, and that is because monetization rules punish Youtube creators if they are repetitive with their videos, so they are forced to avoid being repetitive or else Google de monetizes their channel. Non Youtube producers are Fetish Producers...and the entire nature of fetishism is to find your niche and then be as repetitive as you want to be. There is no right or wrong way to create wetlook. The main objective is for a producer to have fun and please himself, and if the fans like his style that is cool,, and if not then there are plenty of producers and custom video models who will cater to your preferred style.

It works both ways regarding the older generation of wetlook fans and the new wave of younger wetlook fans. There will be many things the youngsters may not like about the wardrobe fashions used by older wetlook producers. Likewise there are many things that old timers like me do not like about today;s fashion trends too...e.g. in my case, I am not a fan of giant sized tatoos all over the arms and legs and backs of some of the models we hired in recent years. Call me an old fuddy duddy because small tats on the ankle are fine but when a model has most of her arms and legs covered in black and blue ink....then I put the girl in jeans and a long sleeved sweater to cover them up, because large tatoos are a distraction for me. I am not alone with this thought....e.g. when Pamela Anderson was on Baywatch she used to spend hours ever day in the make up room having her tats covered over with makeup to hide them...because the producers on the show did not want to see them on the show.

We all "evolve" our tastes as we get older. Trust me.....after you shoot your first 100 models and 1000 scenes , you will become totally "desenstized" to wetlook as you used to like it. It all becomes totally mundane and so you end up looking for other forms of wetlook to interest you instead.....e.g. these days I am more interested in watching Cambodian fishing girls.,...than hiring professional wetlook models.

Would you say that overall things have gotten better or worse in terms of content? There's a dearth of content today like you said, but would you say, generally speaking, that the stuff made today is better or worse than that of yesterday? I do realize that that can be a bit of a broad question, which is why I say generally speaking. I'm just outside the "youngster under 30 years of age who never lived thru the 1960's, 70's and 80's" group (32) that's been here for about a little over a decade (12 years I think?). Looking back on the clips I have, the old stuff (which for me would be 10-15 years old) comes with a little bit of nostalgia, some "this was well made," some "I've been spoiled by HD," some "old stuff is old" - the new stuff has SOTA image quality (generally speaking), some lack the 'it' element that the old clips had, some are memorable. It's enough time to see professionals and amateurs come and go. The older pages of this forum can attest to that.

Today in 2020 it is the best of times for wetlook fans of all different tastes and styles, especially for those on a budget or who prefer free media. Just look at how things have changed for wetlook fans in the last 40 years.

!980's

--------

* Online media did not exist

* Free Media did not exist

* Wetlook Producers did not exist (with the exception of Artscene and WSM Productions)

* A couple of amateur video producers would make custom videos on VHS, but you needed to spend $80 for a ready made VHS tape, or if you wanted something done to your taste it would cost $1000 to commission a custom production.

RESULT = a wetlook fan with special interests either needed to spend 10K per year commissioning custom videos or spend 50K + per year on buying video gear and hiring models and making his own videos.

1990's

--------

* Online media did not exist

* Free media did not exist

* 7-8  Wetlook Producers starting producing VHS tapes (Messy Fun, Minx Movies, Buff Films/Splosh, Aquantics, Artscene, etc) They were made according to the Producer's tastes, not to consumers tastes) and cost $50-60 for a 1hr VHS tape

RESULT = a wetlook fan with special interests either needed to spend 10K per year commissioning custom videos or spend 50K + per year on buying video gear and hiring models and making his own videos.

2000's

--------

- The first wetlook sites for download files were created, VHS tape format died, and a digital DVD format arrived. Media was no longer $50 for a tape, and dropped to prices around $10 for a download file.

- Free media did not exist from 2000 - 2004

- In 2005 the concept of free videos was born, with the launch of Youtube

- Wetlook Producers exploded from less than 10 in the 1990's to well over 300 wetlook producers in the 2000's

- Freelance models began to advertise custom video services, and it no longer cost $1000 to have a video made to your specs, because freelance models would make your script for less than $300

RESULT = Wetlook fans could find millions of wetlook videos for free on Youtube, or hire custom video models at very affordable prices.

2010's

- Downloadable videos became less fashionable, because the new trend is currently STREAMING video (ala Netlix) where you can watch thousands of streaming wetlook videos online for a low priced membership

- Prices continue to drop with the explosion of Free Media on Youtube and many wetlook producers offering streaming video membership where the cost per video is as low as 10 cents.

- Youtube currently reports that 300 hours of new video is added to Youtube every MINUTE of the day. That's 432,000 hours of new free videos added daily. I am sure you can find what you want if you just check Youtube every day.

RESULT = 2020 is the best time ever for all kinds of wetlook fans. If you don't like the style of one wetlook producer there are 400 other wetlook producers you can check. If you cannot find what you prefer among the producers, you can surely find free clips on Youtube that will float your boat. Also, everybody has a cellphone today with a built in camera, so you can make your own videos with your wife and girlfriend for next to nothing.

Anybody who is complaining about how the state of wetlook is today.....must be a youngster under 30 years of age who never lived thru the 1960's, 70's and 80's. I remember what it was like being a wetlook fan and teenager in the 1960's.....when my only source for finding wetlook was scavenging thru magazines and spending hours at the public library hunting for a few pics in the Film and TV section, and taking my trusty Polaroid camera to the beach at Margate and walking up and doown the beach for hours looking for a few moments of wetlook. One time I spent so much time at the beach I left my shoes and socks and the tide came in and I lost them and I had to come home on the train barefoot. That is why I always remember Spike Milligain's adaptation of the famous John Masefield poem ....

I must go down to the sea again,

    to the lonely sea and the sky;

I left my shoes and socks there -

    I wonder if they're dry?

The offer of wetlook is growing more and more. I could spend a thousend Euros on wet movie clips every month. This would ruin me quite quickly. But there is a couple of details i dont like that makes it easyer for me to strike things off from my must-have list. I dont like nylons, skirts, leather, full bottom panties, girls fällig in or getting pushed in and much more. But instead of complaining i am just glad that i can pick out those clips that are perfect for me. And that is still more than enough.
